(Redirected from WIFI)
Wi-Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity and can also be called Wireless LAN or Wireless Local Area Network.
Wi-Fi brings the possibility to be mobile, while maintaining a secure, standardized connection to, typically a broadband DSL network. Wi-Fi also provides the ability for devices to connect to each other directly. Wi-Fi typically has a range of tens of meters, sometimes called a hotspot.
In most countries, no licence is required to connect over a Wi-Fi network. The connection speed can be very high, similar to a fixed network, between 11 and 54 megabits/second.
Millions of devices are available with WiFi connectivity, from PC's to mobile phones, to digital cameras, and home modems.
