We are happy to announce a new initiative that will bring together people interested in the use of mobile communications for social benfits: the Shareideas.org Webinars.
In the Webinars, community members will present their practices and experiences in a video talk, and then participate in an online chat with fellow members of the shareideas.org site. The idea is to share ideas. :-)
Our first Webinar, Applying mobile technology in the global conservation and development effort, will take place in early October 2007. Ken Banks, founder of kiwanja.net, will deliver the first video keynote talk on the impact of mobile phones in the work of NGOs. Ken will highlight the many uses of mobile technology in conservation and development work - including health, education, wildlife conservation and economic empowerment - and look at some of the solutions available, including FrontlineSMS, his own text messaging platform which was recently used to monitor the Nigerian elections.
We invite you all to join us in the first of many Webinars to come! Please refer to the Webinars' page to sign up for the event and for more information. See you all online in October!
