Text messaging has emerged as a potent tool for grassroots NGOs. To support NGOs with a great idea for how to use SMS in their work, kiwanja.net has launched the nGOmobile competition. Through the competition, NGOs around the world are invited to submit short project ideas explaining how greater access to mobile technology -- and SMS messaging in particular -- can help them achieve their social change missions. The competition runs until December 14, 2007, with winners annouced in January 2008.
The top four entries will each win a new laptop computer, two mobile phones, a GSM modem, kiwanja.net's own entry-level text messaging platform, and a cash prize of US$1,000.
