Twenty-year-old Le Thanh Trang came up with the idea of using corn cobs as cell phone covers, while Doan Uyen Phoung, 15, proposed that mobile phones be used to deliver historical facts about cities. The two are among the winners of the NextGen Awards pilot in Vietnam. The awards encouraged young people, ages 13 to 20, to develop ideas for using mobile phones to address issues related to health, education, and the environment. More than 1,600 entries were received from throughout the country, with the top 12 winners to receive online support from international mentors.
