How to participate
From Shareideas
You are encouraged to share your successes – and challenges – in using mobile technology to contribute to the lives of others.
To be truly useful, this site depends on the active participation of its community members. Help build a dynamic learning community by encouraging others to participate.
This website is a wiki. A wiki is a type of website that allows visitors to easily add, remove, and edit content. Wikipedia – the free encyclopedia is the most famous wiki website in the world.
You may contribute your own story and edit those written by other members. You may use the e-mail form to post your story or write and edit case studies in the wiki. To edit the wiki you must register and log in to the site.
If you are familiar with wikis, you may go to the appropriate category page and add a new page there. You may access guidelines and help from the Wiki Manual on Editing.
We have several examples of well written stories you may want to have a look before writing your own story. However, here are four basic guidelines:
Be bold
We strongly encourage you to contribute to ShareIdeas.org. We want you to add, revise, and edit the stories in the ShareIdeas.org. Simply click the “edit” link in the page, edit them or create new pages with your story. You shouldn’t worry if things don’t go exactly right on your first day. In the ShareIdeas.org there are other people who will help you to build pages.
Write reports with a neutral point of view
When you contribute to the site, we hope that you will strive to be as neutral as possible. We look forward to featuring stories that are reports of best practices. Yet, we also recognize that in many cases, the best learning comes out of things that went wrong. We hope that you will report your challenges and failures, too.
Get right to the point
Start your story with the most important facts. This will make it easy for other people to get a fast overview of your story and to evaluate if it is relevant for them. Report what was done, where, when, and by whom. Explain the background and details only after the basic information.
Use references and external links
Our goal is that the stories found on ShareIdeas.org are real and verifiable. For this reason, you should always include in your story references where the reader may find more information or verify the content. A good practice is to have a separate section for references and external links at the end of each story.
